If you have an RV that you will not be using for a few months, such as during the winter or off-season, you will need to make sure that you are doing all you can to keep it properly stored. To help you achieve this, you will want to make use of the following advice.

Protect The Tires

One of the biggest problems people find when they store their RVs for many months is that when they go to pull the RV out, the tires are deflated. They might have simply lost air, or they have actually developed some rot and are no longer able to be used. If you want to make sure that you are avoided the extra expense of replacing all of the tires on your RV, you will want to protect them during the time the RV is in storage.

One way to do this is to go back to your RV every week or two and move it around so the tires are rotating and they are not always sitting in the same exact position with all of that weight weighing down on them. Another option is to remove all of the tires and place the RV on blocks. You can then store the tires inside of the RV for added protection.

Protect The Mechanics

If you do not plan on starting the RV and moving it at all during the time it is in storage, you may want to drain the oils and coolants and then add new fluids before starting the RV back up in a few months. If you do not do this, there is a chance that the oils and coolants can become dirty, or otherwise ruined—and running those through your RV can cause significant damage to the mechanics of it.

To help make sure that you are going to remember to add new fluids before starting the RV, you will want to take a large note to the steering wheel. After all, if you start the RV without the proper oils and coolants in place, you will cause mechanical damage.

Protect It From Rodents

If you can store your RV in a closed storage unit as opposed to a covered RV storage option, you may be able to reduce the chances of rodents making their way into the RV. You do not want rodents chewing through the various materials in your RV or leaving a mess everywhere. You will also want to make sure that you are removing any trace of food, including small crumbs, before you store the RV, as this will help reduce the chances that the rodents would even be attracted to your RV in the first place.

With those tips in mind, you should have no trouble properly storing your RV during the off-season.
